How Do We Analyse Our OCTAVIUS 4D Measurements?

We use the Gamma 3D method and calculate the 3%/3mm ("3G3") and 2%/2mm ("2G2") passing rates. This means that the dose difference is understood with reference to the maximum dose of the calculated volume, not with reference to local dose.

Only doses below 0.1% of the max. dose are suppressed. The option "Use 2nd and 3rd pass" is selected. This is how the setting for 2G2 looks like in VeriSoft 6.2.

A single number cannot describe the analysis results properly. This is why we always perform a volume analysis.

Typical volume analysis

All voxels except the suppressed ones are evaluated and binned according to dose levels from 10% (over 2 million low dose voxels) to 100% (only 1 voxel, because of normalization to this voxel).

This make clear that a single number is not enough to describe the result. Millions of low dose voxels with good agreement may cover the poor agreement of important high dose voxels, and the overall result may still appear acceptable, although it is not.
