I designed the original logo of our institute two years ago, during a (rather boring) meeting in our hospital. The three letters IRO stand for Institute of RadioOncology. The I+R symbolize a Clinac (stand plus gantry).
Here is a copy of my notebook from that meeting, which shows the process of the logo development, together with some intermediate forms:
